Sam June 26

Sam Shin is a new media artist and electronic music composer based in the Seattle area. He composes the music for his audiovisual works and builds them in p5.js, rendering Korean Buddhist images through obsolete reproduction technologies: broadcast video, phosphor displays, halftone print, neon. His recent series without beginning is silent, and takes the endlessly repeating forms of Buddhist practice as its subject.

Shin holds a Ph.D. in digital composition from UC Riverside. He has presented work internationally, including a solo exhibition at the Czong Institute for Contemporary Art in South Korea, the International Computer Music Conference, and the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival.
